So we played with it for a while. It is buggy and most of the applications didn't work... We also tried out the sample applications from the O)penSocial API tutorial, but those also failed
Finally just for kicks we deployed an application with an embedded iframe ;)

it was accessible only from IE 7 and that too he couldn't access the same from another computer
I am having issues with it as well. But, looking at the Developer's guide, this is what it says: "The OpenSocial People data API hasn't been released yet;". I am not sure what you were trying to do, but simple things like accessing Friends List will have to wait until the api for it is fully functional. I was happy to be given access to the Sandbox, but, a bit sorry that it is of no use (at the moment) for an app that I am trying to create!
